Breathing Exercises

Breathing exercises encourage
us to focus attention
away from our fears and onto
our breath. Breathing techniques
calm down our mind and body
so we are better able to deal
with stressful situations.

Yoga

Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to
improve both physical and mental health in
school-age children (ages 6 to 12). Yoga
improves balance, strength, endurance, and
aerobic capacity.

Exercise

Besides enjoying the health benefits of regular
exercise, fit kids sleep better. Exercise improves
school performance and makes kids less likely
to develop depression. Kids who exercise
regularly are also better able to handle physical
and emotional challenges

Talk About Your Feelings

Helping your child identify their feelings is the
first step in helping them manage them. Kids
who are able to identify, understand, express
and manage a wide range of feelings experience
long term benefits to their mental health and
wellbeing.

Find A Positive In Every Day

Look for something positive in each day,
even if some days you have to look a little
harder.

Meditation

Our brains can get tired, and we need
opportunities where we can take time
out each day to "unplug" relax and focus.
Meditation offers this break and helps us
function more effectively and clearly.
